Alaska PAWS Partner Network exists to strengthen Alaska’s animal welfare community through collaboration, education, advocacy, and improved access to veterinary care. Partners share a commitment to humane animal care, ethical organizational practices, and constructive collaboration in support of Alaska’s animals and the people who care for them.
As an Alaska PAWS Network Partner your organization agrees to:
Provide Humane Care, including:
- Appropriate food and water
- Safe shelter from weather and environmental hazards
- Sanitary living conditions
- Daily observation and monitoring of animals in care
- Humane handling practices
Ensure Access to Veterinary Care, including:
- Seek timely veterinary care for illness, injury, and suffering
- Follow veterinary treatment recommendations
- Maintain vaccination and parasite prevention protocols appropriate to their circumstances
- Have a system in place to promote spay/neuter animals prior to placement, OR monitor adopter compliance with S/N agreements, unless medically contraindicated
Use Ethical Placement Practices, including:
- Make good-faith efforts to match animals with appropriate homes
- Provide accurate information regarding an animal’s known medical and behavioral history
- Utilize adoption agreements
- Accept responsibility for animals that cannot remain in placement, when feasible
Employ Responsible Transportation methods, including:
- Transport animals in a manner that protects their physical and emotional welfare
- Comply with applicable transportation regulations
- Consider animal welfare impacts when arranging long-distance transport
Prioritize Organizational Integrity by:
- Operating honestly and transparently
- Comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Participating in annual data collection
- Maintaining appropriate records
- Addressing concerns raised by Alaska PAWS in good faith
Alaska PAWS reserves the right to review partnership status if concerns arise regarding animal welfare, veterinary care, organizational conduct, or compliance with Network standards.
